Iggy Pop Talks Future of Stooges, Jazzy New Solo Album, “War Child” Disc : Rolling Stone : Rock and Roll Daily:
"...Pop — whose longtime Stooges bandmate, guitarist Ron Asheton, died in January — also hinted at the group’s future plans. “We have a large vault, and I’ve been fooling around with different ways to approach vocals,” he says. The band is also “developing something with a dramatic filmmaker,” but Iggy declined to elaborate. What about rumors that Sex Pistols‘ guitarist Steve Jones might join the Stooges? “I talked to Steve, and if I wanted an extra guitar, he’d be the guy to call,” says Iggy. “The group still exists. I’m not gonna tell you more than that.”"
What do you think of that??

  1. I think it isn't the Stooges without Ron. I think Iggy risks cheapening the Stooges' legacy by continuing the name with only one other original member. What do you think?

  2. I don't think I can be a purist when it comes to rock and roll..if the Stooges carry on and it's not embarrassing who am I?

  3. I just read that Iggy has been talking to Deniz Tek (of Radio Birdman) and James Williamson, in addition to Steve Jones.

I think it would be great if James Williamson got back on stage with the Stooges. Deniz Tek is also a gifted guitarist who has always credited Williamson and Asheton as his inspirations. And you're right, why be a purist about it? So I take back my initial reaction.
