Doc & Dawg recorded the album, Doc and Dawg
, in 1997 on Grisman's Acoutsic Disc label. Doc Watson had been a friend and mentor to Grisman for 30 some-odd years at that point...In 1998 they took the show on the road and today's MP3 is from their stop at Town Hall in New York. The recording could be better but the show was terrific. Over two hours of relaxed, jazzy bluegrass and folk. To me, bluegrass is white America's contribution to American Jazz music. To a lot of people its just "pickin and grinnin" hillbilly music but in reality the genre is home to some serious musicians...most of whom have passed through Grisman's bands over the last 40 years...
